2015 Newry Famine Commemoration
Newry hosted an annual commemoration marking ‘The Great Hunger’ of 1845 which lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of men, women and children and saw many more leave the island.
A series of events took place, with an official wreath-laying ceremony and a minute’s silence at The Albert Basin, beside Newry Canal on Saturday 26th September 2015.
